Summer is always an interesting season. There’s no predicting how things will go at the shop. In July, the week after we had our yearly tune up for the air conditioning unit, the compressor died.
If you live in the area you know that July was very hot in these parts, so that was a bit of a stress point for us. Luckily the guys from McMackin were able to get a new unit installed the very next day, so the crisis was as small as it could be. Bumps in the road are the norm in the life of a small business owner.
Wacky Wednesdays are still going strong. We’ve added a few more doughnuts to the mix and swapped out the pound cake for crumb cake because that’s what we were craving. We’ve started offering a few different iced croissants, usually chocolate and some kind of fruit and cream. We top them instead of filling them to preserve their texture and flavor. There’s so much work that goes into those airy layers that we hate to smush them together with mousse or cream, no matter how delicious it may be. Naturally leavened foccaccia is a another new addition to the menu. We’ve also brought back the angel pillows, so if those are one of your favorites it’s time to come back in for a visit.
We’re currently having a soap sale, all bars are $1. We’ve pulled some ABC (Always be Creating) t-shirts from the vault and they are available for $25. We’re planning to introduce Sunday Suppers in the fall. If you follow Ideas in Food on Instagram you may have seen some of our recipe testing. This will be a pasta-centric 5 course menu, one seating, BYOB.
.
That’s all for now. We hope that you’re having a fabulous summer and enjoying every moment.
We look forward to seeing you at the shop!
