It’s been a busy year. We must have started four different newsletters and they were all out of date by the time we got back to finish them. So, here we are in December. This time last year we were running a Kickstarter to open the new shop. Now we’ve been open for quite a while. The first few months were insane, as openings tend to be. Over the summer, things calmed down to a new normal. The crazy lines are gone and everybody who wants doughnuts can get them. That’s a nice thing. We’ve been playing with new doughs and rotating through classics. We’ve even put out a menu that can be found on our website and in the shop. Change really can be a good thing, though sometimes we wish the crowds would come back and see us again.
The fried chicken sandwich and onigiri have come and gone. We have a new savory menu now with breakfast wraps and pressed sandwiches. Some of our Kickstarters who opted to design a chicken sandwich didn’t get in before it disappeared and had to choose different options. People still occasionally come in asking for the chicken because it was awesome. But here’s the hard truth, it didn’t sell, so it went away. The same thing happened with the onigiri. Some people loved them, and we did too, but the sales were not there. The cost of doing business is that when you love something and no one buys it, you have to take it off the menu.
Our one rule is that we only make things we want to eat. As much as we love doughnuts, we need a little something savory too. We are having fun with sourdough bread and smoked focaccia, sold by the loaf, by the slice (for our focaccia specials like potato and green onion) or in sandwiches. Fancy grilled cheese changes according to our whims and is a total indulgence. There are also breakfast strata sticks. What is a strata stick? It’s a savory bread pudding that is sliced and then griddled. We make several different flavors such as bacon, egg & cheese or pepperoni and mozzarella. Alex is getting a sheeter for Christmas, so croissants or other fun laminated doughs may be found at the shop in the coming weeks.
The holiday season is here. We’ll have plenty of jelly doughnuts and blue and white sprinkles for Hannukah. There will be large doughnut bread puddings, perfect for family gatherings, and small ones for a weeknight dessert. There are cranberry-apple panettone doughnuts and chocolate babkas with candy cane glaze. There may even be a new holiday decoration in the entryway, if you’re sharp enough to catch it.
We are always curious about what we can make next, hence Curiosity Doughnuts. While we may not be making only doughnuts these days, they are still the heart and soul of the shop. We love playing with dough and making delicious things with it and we so appreciate having a community to share that with. Thank you so much for coming to see us and supporting the shop.
Happy Holidays! We Wish You all Good Food and Good Company, Today and Every Day.

The strata was just brilliant! And the dipping pepper caramel?! Unreal! Keep up the fabulous work!
Can't wait to finally make it back in there and try the new deliciousness! Hoping you make some croissants too!
