Fall 2024
Hey Doughnut Lovers,
We are well into November. Fall is speeding by at breakneck speed. Many of you may have met Olivia behind the counter, she has moved on to a new position, and we wish her all the best. This change in staffing means there are adjustments happening as we rejigger staffing, so please bear with us as things shake out.
The laminated brioche and meltaways are going on hiatus for a time. We’re also going to swap out the Cinnamon Babka for a different flavor--still in the works. We have a new doughnut on the roster. It is a naturally leavened (Alex’s new obsession) brioche dough, different from our classic sourdough. It has a nice tang and it’s light and fluffy. It holds well, and we’d say that it and the clouds are the best doughnuts to get if you’re planning to serve the doughnuts the next day.
We’ve recently introduced our naturally leavened cinnamon rolls (these are not doughnuts) on Saturdays and Sundays. The sourdough starter gives them a gentle tang to balance out the sweetness. It’s a new favorite and they will be with us through the holiday season. They are $5 each and they can be preordered for pick up between 10am-12pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Each batch produces one monkey bread style roll, make with the scrap pieces. Amaya’s been claiming it for her own because it’s fun to eat, but you may eventually see it behind the counter. It pulls apart easily and would be perfect for people who like our babkas. We are also playing with a stuffed “egg roll” $7 that will make its first appearance tomorrow (Nov. 13) for Wacky Wednesday. It will be stuffed with scrambled eggs, potatoes, kale, and cheese. Think more cinnamon roll style than shokupan.
We’ve also had a few panettones for sale on Saturdays. Alex is finally happy with them. They are made with dried cherries and chocolate and cost $47. If all goes well, we may pick up production for the holidays and open up preorders for those as well.
As we look toward the holiday season, here’s a remind that you can preorder doughnuts, croissants, cinnamon rolls, doughnut crisps, and bread. Doughnut crisps are a doughnut pudding with a streusel topping. They serve 4-6 people and can served warm or cold with fresh fruit as a sweet breakfast item or topped with whipped cream or ice cream for a decadent dessert for a holiday gathering.
We have been doing a few gender reveal orders lately and you have choice of using blueberry and berry glazes or we can do a colored vanilla glaze with natural food coloring and pink or blue nonpareils.
You can send pre-orders through the website or email us at info@curiositydoughnuts.com. Pre-orders are accepted until 5pm the day before you want to pick them up and are not considered final until you get a confirmation email from us. At this, time they are paid for at the time of pick up. This policy may change if we get too many no-shows, and we do require a phone number to confirm the order. Please include the date and time of pick-up with your order. All preorders must be picked up by noon. We will accept wish lists for doughnut orders but please realize that not every doughnut that you wish for may be available, so we reserve the right to make substitutions. As we head into colder weather, croissants will be available for pick up starting at 10am, Friday-Sunday. Cinnamon rolls are available from 10am on Saturdays and Sundays. Although you may find focaccia and sourdough loaves on Wednesday afternoons, we are only taking pre-orders for Thursday-Sunday for the breads.
That’s it for now. We hope to see you at the shop!
