Hey Doughnut Lovers,
Happy New Year!
Hard to believe we’re entering Year 4 at this location. We took a short break and we’re coming back with new hours. Actually we’re going back to our original plan, which was Thursday-Sunday because quality of life matters. We are changing our opening time to 8am because very few people come in early. That is not to say that if someone shows up a little early that we won’t let them in, because, of course we will. And if you need a larger order for an early pick up, feel free to email us at info@curiositydoughnuts.com and we’ll make it happen. Our closing time is still 2pm, unless we sell out earlier. We do the majority of our sales between 8am and 12pm and we’re going to lean into that.
As a small business, if we don’t sell out, we don’t stay in business. There is no magic formula that tells us how many people are coming in on any given day. We know that people can be disappointed if they show up in the afternoon and we are sold out. We are in the business of making people happy, so with that in mind, we are going to post our status on Instagram around 11am, if you’re planning to swing by on the later side you can check the status there. If you are going to make a special trip to see us, which we love, aim to arrive by mid-morning so you have a good selection to choose from.
The slightly later opening time gives us a little breathing room. This way Alex doesn’t have to try and get the case filled by 7am and then wonder why no one is walking in the door. Owning your own business often means a lot of stress and fewer benefits, so we’re trying to change the balance a bit. A doughnut shop should be a happy place and the goal this year is to give ourselves a bit of grace to make life better on both sides of the counter.
We’re coming back with doughnuts on Thursday, January 15 and then adding breakfast sandwiches and bagels on Friday. We’re excited to see what the new year brings. Changing our hours is the first step. Stay tuned to see what happens next.
